Goals for this week

Ok, I’m starting to feel like it is getting to be crunch time before my 30th Birthday on April 14th and I have 13 pounds to lose by then. While, I do understand that it i just a number on the scale, I do know that I have gotten a bit sloppy in the past couple of weeks and want to clean up my act a bit. So, to get some good traction going again I have set the following goals for the next week. Continue reading

No, I Didn’t Fall Off the Wagon….

Many times when someone is blogging about their weight loss journey and there have been no posts for several weeks it usually means that they have fallen off of the proverbial weight loss wagon. Well, I did not fall off the wagon. No. I intentionally dove off of the wagon. What started as one dinner out to celebrate with my family complete with many servings of cheddar biscuits and several glasses of diet coke turned into nearly 2 months of horrible behavior with food. As much progress as I though I had made slipping back into those old bad habits was extremely easy. It scares me how easy it was.  Continue reading

Review of this Week

This has been another really good week of weight loss. I have lost a total of 3 pounds this week putting me back down to 235
pounds. This means I am only 5 pounds away from my first goal! This is a huge accomplishment for me because even though I have set weight loss goals in the past I have never actually reached any of the weight loss goals I have set.

At the beginning of October I had my husband help get accurate measurements using the tape measure that we have. I won’t be sharing exact measurements (yet), but I plan to share the number of inches lost on a monthly basis. The first measurement results will be on the November 7th Blog Post. I am looking forward to finding out those results. Continue reading

Weekly Recap

This week I was very pleased with my progress. It wasn’t so much the number on the scale that pleased me, but the fact that there were things that happened this week that could have thrown a massive wrench in my week but I kept my goals in mind and I was able to adjust. I continue to watch my calories very carefully and fit in my exercise in when I can. I was unable to go to the gym and work out three days in a row, though I was able to stay fairly consistent with my walks during my breaks at work. I know this isn’t the same as doing an hour of cardio and resistance training, but at least I’m moving. My clothes feel wonderful! They are actually starting to feel a bit loose. I discovered this week that while sitting down I can now comfortably Continue reading

Motivation to Lose Weight #1: The Big 3-0 is on the horizon

I am starting a series of different personal motivations I have to lose weight. These are those motivators that are in addition to just wanting a healthy lifestyle. This gets down to the nitty gritty of who I am as a person. Some of these may come across as vanity reasons. Though, I believe that some vanity is ok as long as you keep the bigger picture in mind. Review of this week

I stepped on the scale this week to learn that I have lost 5 pounds this week, so now I am down to 242 pounds. This was a large weight loss that I was not anticipating this week, and certainly do not expect this kind of weight loss every week. Though, it really does help give me motivation to keep moving forward. Even more importantly, my clothes feel more comfortable – dare I say they actually feel looser? So about a month into my weight loss journey and I have lost 18 pounds (most of which was water weight) and I feel the best that I have felt in a very long time. Not just Continue reading

My Love Affair with Diet Coke

A big part of my food addiction goes hand in hand with my love affair with Diet Coke. Over the past few years it had turned into a complete addiction with the drink. I started drinking Diet Coke fairly moderately while I was in High School. High School was an interesting time for me. I hated the way I looked, but didn’t care to take the time to do anything about it. I was out of shape and overweight, but not near to the level of morbid obesity that I am today. When I went to college I started increasing the amount of Diet Coke that I consumed in a day to about 36 ounces. Over the years that consumption would gradually increase to where I had been over the past two years or so, consuming at least 80 to 100 ounces of Diet Coke each day – sometimes to as much as 120 ounces per day.
